Adelaide Fringe Social Media for the Arts

It’s Festival time in Adelaide. What an amazing time to be in such a beautiful part of the country. But with so many people here, and so many distractions, how do you grab – and hold – attention?

One way is through social media. It’s not foolproof, and you don’t build Rome in a day, but some neat social media insights can gain you attention and – more importantly – build the foundations for an online community that will stay with you long after this festival season has ended.

With the support of Adelaide Fringe I’m offering a series of artist’s information sessions on social media before/during the festivals. Most will be group sessions costing a meagre $5-$10 per person. Private sessions (to help you develop a personalised social media strategy) and audits (to provide an external overview of your existing social media presence) are available on request. I am happy to discuss ‘in-kind’ offers (such as tickets to your shows) by way of creative exchange :)

The first informal session will take place this coming Wednesday 15th February at lunchtime (12-2pm) in the reading room** on Hindley Street. Register on Facebook if you’re interested in coming along. This first one will be an overview of what social media platforms are out there and how they differ from each other. As an introduction it will be an ‘honesty box‘ session where you can pay what you think the session was worth.

The rest of the sessions will be based on your requests… so please let me know a bit about the areas you work in, the kinds of information you’d like, and when you’re most readily available via the form below.

Otherwise, see you online via twitter, facebook and my email newsletter. Or perhaps at one of the other fab social media events happening in the next week, like #socadl (Sun 12th Feb) or AbaF’s Social Media & Online Marketing (Mon 13th Feb).

UPDATE: More sessions have been scheduled.

** the reading room is a Renew Adelaide venue. Drinks are available via donation & seating is via sofas & floor cushions… like I said, this is informal :)
